KAIRI Summer Interns Win the Grounded Video-QA Track at the ECCV 2026 Perception Test Challenge

Congratulations! Team Banana Bats — Minseon Park, Jian Kim, Inhong Paek, Changwoo Jeon, Jaeyun Shin and Jong Chul Ye — won the Grounded Video-QA track of the Fourth Perception Test Challenge, organised by Google DeepMind and held at ECCV 2026 in Malmö, Sweden on 9 September 2026. The challenge drew 1,439 submissions from 125 teams across its four tracks.

What makes this result worth singling out is who produced it. Minseon Park, Jian Kim, Inhong Paek and Changwoo Jeon are undergraduates who spent the summer at BISPL on the KAIST AI Internship (KAIRI) programme, and this first-place finish came out of that single vacation’s work — undergraduate interns taking on an open international benchmark and coming first in their track, alongside BISPL graduate student Jaeyun Shin.
